We have 3" of snow on the lakes, the fish are starting to settle down, they don't seem to be as jumpy as they were. The pike have been great, seeing a nice mixed bag, some are very aggresive, others come floating in like a log. Whitefish have been moving all day, seeing some huge ones, some have to be going close to 8lbs, just seems like we can never get a good shot at one of the bigs ones. Water clarity is getting a little tough, some days we can see bottom good, other days we can't make it out. Hoping it holds out a couple more weeks. It has been fantastic so far this year.

Fishing has been good overall, last week with the weather changes every other day made for some slow days. We seen fish and some good ones, but over all it was average. we have enough ice to drive the truck now to our houses. There are spots on the main lake that are not driveable yet. in fact we had some holes just freeze up last week. Whitefish have  been pretty decent, seeing an averaqe of 5 - 10 per day even when things were slow. Been seeing a fair amount of walleye, and the pike have been a mixed bag. cold temps again this week so we will put on some ice. Have roughly 1/2 - 1 inch of snow on the lake finally. this will help with banking, and calm the fish down a bit.

Whitefish:

Ice has been holding its own for the last week, gaining a little the past 2 days. Got some snow this morning, about 1/2 - 3/4 inch, will head out and bank the houses the best I can, who knows when we will get more.

Fishing has been unbelievable. I don't know if I have ever seen a better year start out. Been seeing a fair amount of whitefish, some days we see over 25, other days 10, they seem to be a bit on the spooky side, manage to get a couple on the ice each time out. The pike have been an absolute blast, We have seen as many as 5 pike in the hole at one time. Lots of smaller eaters, but there has been some nice ones iced this week, 14lb on tuesday, a 10lb wednesday, and been seeing a few decent ones that a person cant get a shot at. Also been seeing a couple walleyes each day out, and the suckers, been icing a few that are pushing 4-6lbs. Has been a great start to the year, been plenty of action.

Whitefish:

Ice varies from 6 to 9-1/2", crystal clear, strong ice. Got a dusting of snow yesterday morning, enough to make patches of snow on the ice, I am guessing by early next week it will all be gone. We are slowly gaining ice, but at least with the warm daytime temps we are getting cold enough at night to slowly gain.

Fish movement has been spectacular, Yesterday we seen close to 75 fish for the day, mix bag of whitefish, pike, perch, and suckers. We iced a few fish but mostly just had a ball. this past week has been one of the best we have seen in quite some time. I am hoping things keep up. The steady weather will help, and we are starting to see some nice fish. Fish seem to be a little on the spooky side, but slow movements, and patience seems to be very valuable.

Whitefish:

Ice varies from 6-9 inches, There were some open spots on the main lake that just froze up over the weekend, so travel is still not advised on the main lake, at least check as you go. There is little patches of snow, but mostly clear ice.

The fishing was great over the weekend, got houses set on Friday, seen over a dozen fish in the last 3 hours of the day. Mixed bag, Some whitefish, Pike, and non spearable fish. We ended up taking 5 whitefish, and 8 pike over the weekend. Both days were only half days in the houses. Pike have been running small on averge, but get a few nice eaters in there.

Had a half day today in both houses, the 1st half hour of the day was excellent. between  both houses there were over 30 fish seen. The whitefish seem to be moving nice this year and we are definately on them right now. The guys seen over 30 whitefish by noon today, However none made it on top of the ice. Either were clean misses, or just a little slow on the reaction time.

Up North:

Gary's crew managed to have a great week too. A couple dandy pike were taken over the weekend and last week. Seeing allot of slot fish, and some good eaters too. Ice is good and getting around is good.

Whitefish:

We have good ice most everywhere, Ice varies from 3"-8" and there is a few spots over deep water that is still open. We lucked out with this last storm system, we got just drizzle and a few flurries. We only ended up with a few puddles on the ice, Today is pretty cold, windy, and some flurries, so the puddles will be froze and we should be good to go for the weekend. Made it out Tuesday to a test spot, sat 1.5hrs, seen a beautiful walleye, about 16-17", might be the most colorful walleye I have ever seen in the hole. Seen a couple pike, and perch. Nothing agressive, but this was as the front was moving in.

Water clarity is great, can see the snails in 11 fow, I have seen it better, but not by much. the Ice is crystal clear and can see the breaks real easy through the ice, now is the time to put on the ice skates and cruise the breaks with the gps. Be safe out there, ice varies enough to get you in plenty of trouble yet. Test the ice as you go to new spots.

Ice is forming on lakes. Some of the larger lakes are not showing much sign of ice. The smaller lakes have mostly froze over. The wind is the factor right now, they seem to freeze overnight and the wind opens them back up again. This warmer weather over thanksgiving will slow down the ice build, but I think it we will hold ground on the ice, getting cold enough at night to make up for what we loose during the day.

At this point, I am guessing it will be Dec. 3rd weekend at the earliest we will be able to get out on the lakes, there will be a few bays that a person can venture out on if a person can't resist. Just practice safety, bring a life jacket, and make sure to have some ice picks around your neck.
